A lovely early example of a posy ring, the bipartite form and engraved decoration being particularly unusual and charming. For 15th century examples with similar inscriptions see Oman, Catalogue of the Finger Rings in the British Museum numbers 924 to 926. See also the Fishpool Hoard in the British Museum, where there is a single-band ring with similar beaded decoration and Gothic inscription, of the same period.
This ring was discovered in the New Forest, Wiltshire, and has been disclaimed by the Crown
