Georgian multi-coloured paste, garnet and rose-cut diamond moth pendant c.1800. Mounted in silver with gold legs, antennae and loop
25mm wide
This is a rare and very attractive example of a paste insect, particularly unusual to have it's original pendant loop rather than a later brooch fitting. Being a modest size makes it very wearable, though I'm sure it would appreciate sympathetic wear considering its age.
