A late 16th to early 17th century agate cameo of an infant Bacchus astride an ass, supported by two satyrs, mounted in the original gold ring c.1600
A very rare survival of an early 17th century gold ring with an intact cameo, the cameo could possibly be a little earlier than the ring.
Overall in excellent condition, some wear and losses to the cameo but nothing significant, the four small claws around the cameo are a later addition for extra security, and the back of the shank has been reinforced at some point, this could be improved if sizing were necessary. All-in-all very good condition for a 400 year old piece of jewellery
The head approximately 20 x 17mm
Finger size UK - N, US - 6 1/2, FR - 54
8.5g gross
